Day Twenty One

Crossy | Mt Beauty – Tallangatta| 171.2km – 2280m.

Today started off awesome. Got what I thought was the climb of the day done, and then called into the National MTB event centre in Bright to catch up with the TWI crew, especially Tommy Gun Worth, Fergus McQueen & David “Gary” Cooke.

Breakfast with GPM-STULZ legends Tas Nankervis & Cam Ivory was next as well catching up with the Harris clan. The one thing you pick up from being a part of the cycling fraternity is life long friends. Over the years we have met some life-changing people, those guys are just a few of them.

I cruised out of Bright, feeling pretty good. A lesson was about to be learnt!

I turned towards Stanley and wow, where did that berg come from? Did not eat as I should have and was well short on prep. Absolute rookie error and it put me behind ALL day. Used way too much fuel to get to Tallangatta.

The two days coming will make or break my finish plans, but I’ll give it a crack.

As a great lady said, worry about what’s in front of yourself now, the rest will sort itself… or something like that.

I’m still pedalling, I’m still getting closer to home every day on this IPWR journey.

STATE OF THE NATION – DAY TWENTY

These three legends made the finish today.
All champion blokes that I had the pleasure of riding with until the Nullarbor.
